Admissions The Abacus Montessori House admits students from every economic and social class, racial and ethnic heritage, and religious belief. To be considered for our primary classroom, a child must be three years of age by September 1. The following are a list of specific steps for the admission process.
We ask interested parents to call the school for an appointment to meet with the school head without your child. She will first familiarize you with basic Montessori philosophy. After a school tour, including a classroom observation, she will have time for any questions you may have.
When the decision to apply is made: Complete the application form and send it to the school with a nonrefundable $75.00 application fee. We suggest you return your application as soon as possible, classroom spaces are limited.
Upon receipt of your application we will schedule a time for you and your child to meet with a classroom teacher. This meeting will help determine: (1) your child's readiness for the school; (2) helps us to learn additional information about your family and child; (3) and to share more information about the school with parents.
Admission decisions are made by the school head and teaching staff. These decisions are based on the child and family school visit and the number of openings available.
If it is our judgment that your child would have a difficult time in a Montessori environment, we will inform you as soon as possible.
If a place is not immediately available, you may wish to be placed on our waiting list. You will receive notification of waiting list status as soon as possible. We experience changes and urge parents to remain in the wait group.
